With the Gigo Crossbows & Catapults educational kit you can build bows and catapults! The bow is a medieval “weapon”. With this kit you can create up to 5 different types of bows with different designs and construction techniques. The safety projectile is called a screw. With an elastic rubber band, you can pull back and with the force that will be released by pulling the trigger device, the screw will be released and directed towards the target.
The catapult is a type of medieval weapon called a “Trebuchet” that can shoot heavy objects and knock down castles. With this kit you can create up to 5 different types and learn how they work and what is the technique to make them work. From a traction catapult to a counterweight catapult and to the most advanced catapult with a floating arm that provides maximum power to the object it pulls.
Children will learn about the ancient mechanism of the projectile and physics by building 5 bows and 5 catapults. The safety projectile (screw) powered by an elastic belt allows for experiments with force, energy and movement in a playful way. They will observe how different construction models produce corresponding force, in order to understand evolution.
