Functionality:

Sensor for detecting objects or measuring distance using infrared light.

The sensor output is digital (HIGH and LOW).

Its design is compact, with the light source and detector positioned in the same direction.

To detect an object, the reflection of the infrared ray from the object is used.

The wavelength of infrared light is 950 nm.

The detector consists of a phototransistor.

The infrared transmitter and receiver are mounted separately on the unit.

The sensor not only detects whether there is an obstacle, but also estimates the distance to the object (as a relative value, depending on the strength of the reflected light).

The sensor sensitivity for the digital signal can be adjusted via a potentiometer.
