NGS DNA model
Exploring DNA for children can be done with simple examples and pictures to better understand its structure and function.
DNA is like a big "guide" or "book" inside the cells, which tells our body how to work.
It contains all the information we need about how our instruments will look and work.
Think of it as a staircase that is twisted into a spiral shape. This staircase has two sides and "steps". The sides of the ladder are made of sugar and phosphates, and the "steps" are made of pairs of small pieces called bases.
There are four types of bases:
- Adenine (A),
- Thymine (T),
- Cytosine (C),
- Guanine (G).
Adenine is always attached to thymine (A-T), and cytosine is attached to guanine (C-G).
DNA is like a code that tells our body what to do. Think of DNA as a "blueprint" that tells cells how to make proteins, which are the "building blocks" of our bodies.
DNA is important because it contains all the information about who we are! It controls how we grow, what we look like, and even some abilities we have.
