Weekly STEM challenges for kids
Weekly STEM challenges are a fun and educational way to encourage children to think creatively, solve problems, and apply science, technology, engineering, and math knowledge to their everyday lives. Each week, we propose a new challenge that can be implemented at home or at school, using simple materials and encouraging imagination and innovation.
1. How do STEM challenges work?
Every week, we publish a new activity with clear instructions.
Children can work alone or in groups.
The activities require simple, accessible materials.

2. Examples of STEM challenges
Challenge 1: Volcano in action!
Target:
Children will learn about chemical reactions by building an erupting volcano with vinegar and baking soda.
Materials:
Baking soda, vinegar, paint, plasticine, water bottle.
Steps:
1. Create a clay volcano around a bottle.
2. Add baking soda to the inside.
3. Pour vinegar and watch the “explosion”!
Challenge 2: Building a durable bridge
Target:
Understanding basic principles of mechanics and strength of materials.
Materials:
Straws, cardboard, adhesive tape, glue.
Steps:
- Use the materials to design and build a bridge.
- Test how much weight it can withstand.
- Improve your design for greater durability.
Challenge 3: Coding with Scratch
Target:
Introduction to programming through Scratch.
Materials:
Computer with internet access.
Steps:
1. Visit Scratch.
2. Create an interactive animation or a small game.
3. Share your work with your friends!
3. How to participate?
Try the weekly challenge and record the result.
Take photos or videos of the process.
Share your creations on social media with the hashtag #STEMChallenge.
