Simple physics and chemistry experiments

Simple physics and chemistry experiments are a fun and hands-on way for students to understand basic scientific concepts. Most of them can be done with materials easily found at home or in the classroom, making learning an interactive experience.

Physics Experiments

1. The power of the wind – The paper glider

What will we learn:

Aerodynamics, air resistance

Materials:

Cardboard, scissors, glue

How do we do it:

We create a simple glider and fly it to observe how its shape affects flight.

2. Electrostatic attraction with a balloon

What will we learn:

Electrostatic energy

Materials:

Balloon, paper or hair strands

How do we do it:

We rub a balloon on a woolen cloth and bring it close to small pieces of paper or our hair to observe their attraction.

3. The water that doesn't fall from the glass

What will we learn:

Atmospheric pressure

Materials:

A glass, water, a piece of cardboard

How do we do it:

We fill the glass with water, cover it with the cardboard, and turn it upside down. The water stays inside the glass due to air pressure.

Chemistry Experiments

1. The baking soda volcano

What will we learn:

Acid-base reaction

Materials:

Baking soda, vinegar, a small glass

How do we do it:

We mix baking soda with vinegar and observe the foam that is created due to the release of carbon dioxide.

2. Electrostatic attraction with a balloon

What will we learn:

Oxidation

Materials:

Lemon juice, a cotton swab, paper, a candle

How do we do it:

We write on paper with lemon juice and let it dry. When we bring it close to fire (safely), the message appears due to oxidation.

3. The colorful rainbow in milk

What will we learn:

Surface tension

Materials:

Milk, liquid soap, food coloring, a cotton swab

How do we do it:

We put drops of color in the milk and add a little liquid soap. The colors start to move due to the reduction of surface tension.

Tips for safe experiments

Use materials suitable for children.

Always have adult supervision, especially when experimenting with fire or chemical reactions.

Wear gloves or protective glasses where necessary.

Experiment in a clean space with easy access to water.

Conclusion

Physics and chemistry experiments are an exciting way to bring theory to life. Whether it's wind power, electrostatic energy, or chemical reactions, each experiment enhances children's understanding and encourages them to discover the world around them!
